From Kicks to Sticks: Amy’s Dive Into Kali 🥋🥢

Over the past few weeks, I’ve introduced Amy to something a little different—the Filipino martial art of Kali. And let me tell you, she’s taken to it like a duck to water. 🦆

If you're not familiar with Kali, it's a weapons-based martial art from the Philippines that emphasizes fluid movement, coordination, timing, and precision. Think sticks, knives, and open-hand techniques, all wrapped up in an art that’s as graceful as it is powerful. It’s fast, it’s dynamic, and it’s a whole lot of fun.

What’s been amazing to watch is how naturally Amy has picked it up. Kali seems to be clicking with her on a deep level—her movements are smooth, her focus is sharp, and her enthusiasm is through the roof. And while it’s a whole different ball game from Taekwon-Do, the crossover benefits are already showing.

Kali is giving Amy a fresh perspective on body mechanics and coordination. The angles, footwork, and flow of Kali are sharpening her spatial awareness and timing—skills that directly boost her Taekwon-Do practice. It’s like her martial arts toolkit just got a powerful new upgrade.

But let’s not ignore the most important part… Amy looks Cobra Kai Kool while doing it. 🥤
There’s just something about the way Kali moves—the rhythm, the speed, the flair. It has that cinematic edge that makes it look effortlessly badass. And Amy? She wears it like a pro.

Here at Elite Taekwon-Do Academy, Lusk, we’re always looking to help young martial artists grow in confidence, coordination, and character. Amy’s journey is just one example of how exploring different martial arts can deepen your understanding and skill across the board.
